Domus Magnus

"We are very happy with Navitas Capital’s investment in Domus Magnus", says Huub Deterd, director of the private residential care housing organisation. "Domus Magnus already had sufficient means and good plans to further strengthen its position, but the capital injection of Navitas Capital allows us to speed up the performance of our growth in the ‘star-quality level’ private elderly care in the Netherlands.

In 2005, Domus Magnus started its first private residential care housing provision on the Klein Engelenburg estate in Brummen. A monumental villa with orangery was renovated and has since been a luxury and comfortable home to the elderly. Since the involvement of Navitas Capital in 2007, 5 new locations have been acquired and the initial branch in Brummen was expanded. This year, the number of locations has been further expanded by a merger with DS Verzorgd Wonen. This brings this new organisation to a total of eleven existing small-scale locations, and four new locations in development.

Director Huub Deterd: "There is a high demand for new locations and we are therefore continuously looking for suitable properties. The involvement of Navitas Capital enables us to meet that demand more quickly.”

More investments in people, care and service 
The funds of Navitas Capital are not only invested in locations but also in people. "Domus Magnus ultimately feeds on the care organisation which supplies the professional care and service. Finding and developing the right locations may be the first step but ultimately it is a mere means to achieve our goal", says Miedema. "Moving to a care or nursing home when living at home is no longer an option is a big step for the elderly. They fear they have to give up the comfort of living and the lifestyle they are used to. We offer an alternative so that they won’t have to.”

Long-term horizon 
Navitas Capital sees deploying private capital in the care industry as a way to make a social-responsible contribution to Dutch entrepreneurship. The leading position in the private housing/care industry for senior citizens will be further expanded in the coming years. This market needs an investment company which has a long-term horizon and is willing to make follow-up investments in years to come which makes Domus Magnus and Navitas Capital are a perfect fit.
